Our Hero Product

Leatherwood Honey

At Hive & Cob, we didn’t just want to make another sweet snack.
We wanted to create something that was true to Tasmania, something natural, small-batch, and made with real care.
That meant starting with one of the rarest ingredients our island has to offer, pure Tasmanian Leatherwood honey.

What is Leatherwood honey?

Leatherwood honey is unique to Tasmania. It comes from the nectar of the ancient Leatherwood trees (Eucryphia lucida) that grow wild in the remote rainforests of the island’s west coast, home to some of the last untouched wilderness areas in the world.

The trees themselves can take up to 70 years before they even start flowering, with peak floral production from175-250 years.

Tasmanian Leatherwood trees are under threat from increasing bushfires and logging. We must protect them at all costs.

There is nowhere else on earth you’ll find Leatherwood honey; it’s truly and uniquely Tasmanian.

What makes Leatherwood honey so special?

Leatherwood honey has a distinct floral taste that sets it apart from other honeys. A taste that has seen it win best honey in the world.

Leatherwood honey has bold, intensely floral and musky flavours with notes of spice, citrus peel, and wild herbs.

Every jar and every batch carries the character of Tasmania’s wild forests.

The honey is harvested carefully with minimal interference.

There’s no blending, no additives, and no shortcuts.
It’s pure, raw, and proudly Tasmanian, just the way nature intended.
